Hidden Features
Software developers seem to relish sharing what they call hidden features. This is trade talk.
The phrase “hidden features” means “I should have provided a helpful GUI control but I did not. My excuse is the feature is used only by corner case users. No, I did not perform any usability testing to prove that point. I do not want to clutter the interface with options that will confuse most users. I do not want to add an Advanced tab or popup dialog. Now you get to read reams of documentation to discover something that should have been discoverable in a friendly manner.”
