Teach Or Write
A long time ago, possibly in a galaxy far away, I learned a simple proverb.
To master a topic, teach or write about the topic.
How does one teach or write when knowing nothing about a topic? The old proverb of the longest journey begins with a single step applies here. Just start. That is the key to learning. The teaching or writing process creates the environment of learning.
In formal teaching environments, instructors create lesson plans. Writing a lesson plan requires learning the subject.
Likewise with writing. I enjoy writing. I write in this blog partly with the goal of learning and teaching myself. Often I write a quick blurb about a subject. Then I continually edit and revise. Often through a period of days or weeks. The process of writing helps me learn.
