The Demise of Flash
Be careful what you wish for.
Almost everybody seems thrilled that Adobe Flash will officially die in 2020. I am ambivalent about the news. I am fortunate that I have not needed the plugin for some time.
The demise of Flash should not be feverishly or cynically embraced. Currently no web browser provides a simple click-to-play feature for HTML videos. Firefox is designed with the usual idiotic developer go-no-no thinking. HTML videos can be disabled completely but there is no simple click-to-play support.
Without such a feature web site developers can return to their obnoxious ways with advertising. Autoplay will rule the day.
