NetworkManager

A few weeks ago the NetworkManager package was updated in Slackware from version 1.2.2 to 1.8.4. I paid little attention but soon noticed my laptop was continually dropping network shares whenever I changed the connection.

Some digging revealed the newer NetworkManager was not correctly executing a dispatcher script I had written. A script that had been working nicely. More digging revealed that NetworkManager environment variables had changed or were not being passed to the script as they had been previously.

A couple of hours later I had the dispatcher script working again.

I notice that NetworkManager falls under the maintainership of the GNOME folks. I should not be surprised that updating NetworkManager broke.
