Software As A Service
I helped a person with a new computer that came with Windows 10 Home preinstalled. The person’s previous computer was old and cranky. That old computer had Windows 10 Home too.
The new computer was updated by somebody else. The first time I powered on the new computer I was greeted with advertisements to use MS Edge. This is called Windows Spotlight and must be manually disabled in Settings.
Upon logging in, Live tiles galore. A nuisance and all quickly unpinned.
Etc. Etc.
Software as a Service is a modern euphemism for what in the 90s was called adware.
The customer is the product.
A travesty.
