Booting to Console
For some years I have noticed on Ubuntu systems, when booting into console mode — run level 3 or multi-user target, that after about 10 to 15 seconds the login prompt belches. The prompt disappears. Pressing Enter
restores the prompt and all is well thereafter.
A quick and not exhaustive test of Debian indicates the problem is related to Ubuntu.
Annoying. As Hell.
Why?
