Word Processors and Complex Documents
I read the following online:
Word processors are great, but they're also pretty simple. They're fine for writing letters or essays, but they're not for complex documents — they're just not designed for it. LaTeX, a document preparation system used by scientists and mathematicians, aims to get around the problem.
Though the years I have read many such statements.
Patooey.
I worked many years as a tech writer using FrameMaker and MS Word. I never had a problem creating complex documents, including headers and footers with footnotes and table of contents. Math equations too.
I am not discrediting LaTex. Just saying that people should not discredit full-featured word processors or page layout software because they think using such software attacks their geek creds. Learn to use the tools properly.
