Phoning Home

I began testing a security auditing package.

I notice the software phoning home to check the latest version.

The package is free/libre and free in cost. The software is useful. The phoning home can be disabled, but only after digging through the documentation.

I have grown weary the past many years of phone home telemetry masquerading as a usability feature.
