Dictionary Translations
The offline Goldendict dictionary has been a staple in the house network for several years. Being able to work offline is a high priority. Privacy is another reason to use an offline dictionary.
Also a staple in the house are several dead-tree translation dictionaries: English-French, English-Spanish, English-German, English-Greek, Latin, and some law dictionaries. These dictionaries help when reading phrases and words of non English languages.
Interrupting a computer reading session to grab one of those dead-tree translation dictionaries sometimes is a bit — annoying. A computer should already have that information available.
Adding translation dictionaries to Goldendict is straightforward but finding the dictionaries required some hunting.
The translation dictionaries are not robust but they help reduce the need to grab the dead-tree dictionaries.
Auf wiedersehen.
